At the age of 19 I went to work for Target Department store and in less than 2 years I worked my way up to Assistant Operation Manger. Later my dad who worked with a very large carrier and was their national sales manager was let go because they wanted him in Chicago, My dad was already living in Plant City, FL and working out of their Miami, FL office so we purchased a small condo for my dad live in during the week and he would commute over the weekends, so he asked if he could just commute over the weekends and have an apartment to stay in during the week, but they insisted they wanted him in Chicago, IL. Because of my mom who hated cold weather large cities, he refused and they let him go after many years of service for that carrier. So he decided to start Abdon in 1986 and we were licensed in 1987 the next year he hired me at a pay cut, but here I am still today enjoying what I do as the President and owner. it may be 10-14 hour days but its worth it . My education came from my dad who had been in the transportation business since he graduated out of college. And now some 38 years later we are still here and service our customer with a high level of ethics, Character and respect that has proven to be very successful.
