Happy Friday! We are only a month and a half away from this year's Policy Forum, and already have almost 70 registrants, many of whom are first-time attendees.

For those that have attended before, what advice would you give to first-time attendees?

    • What is something you wish you knew before attending?
    • How did your first meeting go?
    • How was the experience of walking around Capitol Hill from meeting to meeting?
    • What types of questions did congressional members have for you?

We would love to hear your feedback as we gear up for this year's exciting event!

    Good evening,

My advice (first off) is directed toward all TIA member companies.  The representation we bring to the Annual Policy Forum meetings is vital for all of our businesses and the industry in general.  If we aren't the ones lobbying for the 3PL industry, who is?  All of us work hard every day to provide great service to our customers, while attempting to build new customer relationships with the goal of establishing a reputation that will provide success for years to come.  Meanwhile, fraud within the freight world continues to grow rapidly each day, making us vulnerable to the risk of financial loss, theft, a damaged reputation, or worse...the loss of a customer.  In my opinion, combatting fraud in our industry is the most important topic. However it is just one of the key issues that we can discuss with Representatives next month.

TIA's Government Affairs team works hard to keep a finger on the pulse of what is affecting us most, while maintaining relationships on Capitol Hill with individuals who will understand our challenges and listen to our concerns. Which brings me to my second point...consider learning more about TIA PAC!

TIA was able to arrange nearly 170 meetings over the course of two days last year, and I'm expecting that to increase next month. The more members we have in each meeting, the better!

Lastly, the experience is well worth the trip.  Besides the amazing sites and tremendous history of our Nation's Capitol...witnessing first hand how our government operates is invaluable.  Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to spend time with and learn from other like-minded TIA members who experience the same challenges as you do in your businesses.

The significance of the event, the support it provides to TIA and each of our businesses...and the value you'll receive makes this event a no brainer to attend. I couldn't recommend it more highly and I'll hope to see you there!
